Aluminum Hydroxide Flame Retardant:
Aluminum hydroxide flame retardant, primarily comprising Al(OH)3, is a filling agent renowned for its non-toxic, inorganic nature. This white, micro-powdered substance does not induce secondary pollution, making it an environmentally-friendly option for flame retardation applications. It imparts various properties to products, including flame resistance, smoke suppression, filling capacity, and anti-static attributes.
This flame retardant boasts several advantages, including cost-effectiveness, superior performance, stability, non-volatility, and a high decomposition temperature. Moreover, it does not corrode equipment, further enhancing its utility.
Mechanism of Flame Retardation:
Aluminum hydroxide demonstrates an initial decomposition temperature of approximately 205 ºC. When subjected to heat, it liberates significant amounts of water vapor. This vapor acts as a heat sink, absorbing thermal energy and reducing the concentration of combustible gases within the polymer matrix. Simultaneously, it establishes a non-combustible barrier between the ignition source and the material, effectively suppressing flames.
Additionally, as the released gas is primarily water vapor, it contributes to smoke suppression without causing corrosion to metal surfaces.

2.Activated Aluminum Hydroxide(Surface Treated grade)
Aluminum Hydroxide's Flame Retardant Enhancement:
Aluminum hydroxide, also known as aluminum trihydrate, exhibits its flame retardant properties through heat absorption and decomposition, producing steam to dilute the flammable environment. However, augmenting flame retardant levels often compromises the physical and mechanical integrity of materials, leading to processing challenges.
To address this issue, we've developed surface-modified aluminum hydroxide. This variant demonstrates excellent compatibility with polymers and superior dispersion within substrates, enabling higher loading levels while mitigating detrimental effects on material properties. Consequently, it facilitates enhancements in elongation, tensile strength, and impact resistance.
Activated aluminum hydroxide further improves the cohesion and processability of aluminum hydroxide and resins, imbuing them with dual functionality as flame retardants and fillers. Incorporating activated aluminum hydroxide into plastics, rubber, and composite materials not only imparts flame retardancy, smoke suppression, and self-extinguishing capabilities but also bolsters resistance against leakage, arc damage, and wear.
**Enhanced Flame Retardant Performance:**
Activated treatment significantly enhances the flame retardant efficacy of aluminum hydroxide. Following activation, the dosage of ATH can be increased, for instance, from a typical dosage range of 30-40% for untreated 1-micron aluminum hydroxide to approximately 50%. This amplifies its flame retardant capabilities, ensuring superior fire safety across various applications.
